Ruse, Sveshtari Royal Thracian Tomb & Rock Monastary Basarbovski

The Sveshtari Royal Threcian Tomb shows remarkable craftsmanship from around 300BC. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take photos inside, so check out the link!

The Rock Monestary of Bararbovsky consisted of an old church, hewn into the limestone cliffs and a modern church, with acoomodation for monks.

Ruse is a bit run-down, with lots of concrete appartment blocks, so having stocked up Kaufmarkt, we looked for a camper stop to spend the night. Simon, who let us into the site, kindly offered to drop us off at a restaurant in the old town, and pick us up afterwards: we had a an excellent meal in the Happy Bar & Grill, and caught a glimpse of the spacious old town centre. Next morning Simon also kindly offered to wash our camper van: it hasn't been so clean since we bought it!
